Hi y’all, I moved to a new apartment and it had the cutest sunroom with so many windows & skylights. so I got 3 hanging planters. Today I put a different Hoya in each planter. Looking for any tips or advice to keep them alive?! Thank you ☺️🪴 Hoya Kerrii Hoya Wayetti (tricolor) Hoya Black Margin PS, BookNook attached 🤭

Oh to have a room like this! My advice: slam them with light, offer humidity, and try out LECA— I’ve had some great growth with that. :)

Long story short, they’re basically little clay balls that allow for semi hydroponic growing. It’s a great way to have a ton more plans with a ton less maintenance and work great for Hoyas. If you’re interested. I would recommend the LECA Queen on YouTube for the best explanation of how to use it, and how to transfer your plants. She breaks it down really well to help you understand what’s best for each species.

What direction does that room face? They are very high and a little far from the window so unless it’s a due south space, I might move them a little closer to the window. All three are easy to grow. Kerii and verticilata black margin will want to climb eventually.

i would not consider h. wayetii easy to grow. mine has been very slow, and hates being moved. i’ve even had stems die in the pot from too low light while directly in a south facing window (wintertime in new england)

Wowza, it’s one of my easiest Hoya! It flowered for me in my pathetic Northern bedroom window.

i’d like to update y’all that my wayetii was in too big of a pot— which explains a lot of the issues i was having. if it’s potted in an appropriate mix and appropriately sized pot it should grow better than mine 😅

as long as they are getting lots of light they should be fine. all three should be planted in a chunky fir bark or coco husk based media, as hoya are epiphytes and don’t actually need soil to survive
