SunnyIt does look like a Pubicalyx, possibly the Royal Hawaiian Purple version. The blooms can confirm. The curling new leaf could be insufficient water. Thoroughly water and water again after the soil completely dries. Give it good lighting, about 12 hours under grow light. 🍀🪴

It is under a grow light for 12 hours a day so I will give it a good watering and see if that helps. I got this guy at a yard sale a few years ago and was going to repot it and never did. The pot was way to big so when I finally repotted it it started to give me new leaves but they always die off. I think this is like the 4th or 5th leaf that has tried to grow.

LoquitoDeLasPlantasWhat do the stems look like? Woody and/or knobby stems could indicate flat mites, which do cause leaves to fall off when they're growing.

Im not sure I will look. I do have other hoyas near this one and they are doing well. Here's a up close picture. I think it's ok but what do you think?

It doesn’t look like flat mites. It looks like the leaf node is below the soil and staying wet too long, possibly rotting the tender new leaf. I recommend clearing the soil from around the leaf node. Lower the soil level at least 1/2 inch to get airflow around the node, drying out the stem and the node. Also, add lots of perlite for good drainage or change to a chunky mix to increase airflow and drainage. 🍀🪴

Yeah it doesn't look like flat mites but I don't think it's because of placement either. I do agree that the soil should probably be changed to something chunkier/airy. Are you consistent with your watering?

Yes I have been checking the soil with a stick to make sure I'm watering when I should. I will change the soil cause I would really like it to grow. Thanks

I took it out of the pot today and found very little root left on it and one leaf wasn't even attached anymore so I repotted it in new soil and a 2" pot and I have my fingers crossed it recovers

Should I give it some fertilize?

No fertilizer at this time. If you can give it humidity that will help. It may have gotten root rot and that's why there weren't any roots. But if you put it in high humidity it'll encourage roots to grow. You can place it in a storage bin, those clear plastic containers, that'll give it 100% humidity. If you don't have anything then you can always put it in a big Ziploc bag or a sort of plastic bag, as long as it can get some light.

It is near a humidifier and I can put it closer or do you think it would be better to put in a container. I can do either

It should be fine up next to the humidifier but would probably be easier in a container/bag. Check out Basie Plants on YT, "A guide on how to root Hoya cuttings". He goes through how rooting works on hoyas and different ways to do it
