Hey guys! Could someone identify this Hoya that was given to me? I was water propagating it and think it’s ready for planting- however I wasn’t sure what all the other bumps on it are and if I need to trim it and prop those segments as well? Thank you!!

Hoya carnosa and the white bumps is a condition called splash and is completely harmless to the plant and just adds to the astatic appeal. And it is very common among Hoyas, especially Hoya carnosa.

The leaves are pretty roundish? Might be hoya obovata splash . Those bumps are potential roots. So you could cut and prop a second at that node. Or plant it and airlayer the bumby parts. Or just leave them for potentials later.

When I water prop hoya, some of them just explode all over in bumps, it's kinda of annoying 😆

Thank you! It just might be that one, at least looks most like it. The leaves are very round. How would you air layer it?? I’ve never done that. I’m not sure what exactly I want to do with it yet- but at least it’s now planted LOL.

You basically wrap the area with moist moss, then wrap that in plastic wrap or a bag slit up one side. Giving the roots a place to grow. Then you can cut the plant just below the roots and you already have a fully functioning plant. You'd probably need a stake to give it support on a smaller plant like that

Ohhhhh! Thank you! I think that’s a great idea. I’ll give it a shot!

My guess is it’s a Hoya obovata. You could prop a wet stick from those bumps (Hoyas can root from most anywhere, not just leaf nodes), but I’d leave them!

I agree … looks like Hoya Obovata to me too

Good to know that it’s not just from nodes! Thank you!!
