Hello all new to Hoya’s. I have recently purchased a variegated Hoya rope. The leaves are mushy. Any tips? Is it just trauma from the journey?

Mushy is never a good sign. I’d wait a day after watering and then gently lift the whole plant out of the pot to check the roots. If they’re fine then I’d leave it alone. It might drop a few leaves, but that’s normal for plant shock. If the roots look rotted/smell gross then I’d deal with that. Also, if the pot is too bit for the root ball then I’d downsize.
2 likesThank you so very much. Do they like bottom watered? I received it last Thursday and I have only pulled off about a dozen or so of the leaves and that was the first two days it doesn’t smell I might be past the trauma stage. I have it by a grow light but not directly.
0 likesThey can handle either bottom or top. But they do not like to be overwatered. You can always error on the side of under-watering with Hoya’s, especially ones with thick leaves like a Rope Hoya.
