Help! My green bean Hoya has a bunch of blooms that never opened and look dry and the leaves are yellowing. Is it under watered? Not enough sun?

What’s your watering routine like and what direction does the window face? Hoyas are semi- succulents and wrinkly leaves can indicate under or over watering. I’m gonna guess it’s dry but if it was over watered and there is root rot, then the leaves are getting any water from the soil.

South facing window, but I live in Seattle and it’s been overcast the past week. I follow the watering instructions in planta.

Do you think it’s worth it to remove it to check for root rot?

You can, but since Hoyas don’t like their roots messed with, I’d check a few other things first. Are any of the leaves mushy or soft, especially near the soil? Did its current condition start after watering? With my Hoyas, I only use Planta as a reminder to check them. I’ve over and under watered a few and yours looks a little like my wayetti before I switched things up. I was letting it dry out too much between watering and it was in a west window. I started paying attention to the leaves and sticking my finger down into the soil to check if it is ready for a drink. It took a while, but it eventually recovered. But you’re still unsure, go ahead and take a look at the roots. If they are soft and stinky, then trim all of that away. A few drops of hydrogen peroxide in the water won’t hurt either. I’m assuming you have drainage holes in the pot. If they are fine, then I believe it’s been too dry. Give it a good soak if you haven’t already. I don’t know for sure, but maybe with all the flowers, it’s been using more water and the app didn’t adjust for that?

Thanks so much! I think you’re right it’s under watered because the leaves are very desiccated and the soil is dry.
