Will be repotting soon. Would you trellis or hang? Has 3 very long tendrils that seem to want to climb, but not really sure it will look right. Main leaves are very large. Some almost 4 inches long. Has grown quickly for a Hoya.

    I personally think Hoyas look nice as trailing plants, especially ones with larger leaves. I’ve got a Pubicalyx and a Carnosa that I’ve let trail over the sides of the pot, and quite like the look of them off the trellis these way. Definitely doesn’t seem to stunt their growth either. They still love to climb and I see a new set of leaves in the works every week.

      I think they’ll fit right in with the rest of your collection, then 😉. My Pubicalyx was actually a rescue from Lowe’s. I’ve found that sometimes trellised Hoyas from box stores can wind their vines a little too tight and actually end up damaging them, so I like to look for any Hoyas there to rescue. If you’re looking for some variety because you have a lot of Hoyas without a trellis, they’ll probably look just fine on a trellis too, but I think they look great without it too 😊

      I have a few smaller ones on trellises, but like you mentioned, sometimes they seem to get too tight.

    I like it either way. If they are thin leaves with small leaves I think they look better trellised. That being a SSA I’d I sort of let them tell me how to trellis or hang by the way they look.
