This hoya was a gift I got last fall. It's is over 40 years old and as far as I know it has never bloomed. I want to repot it in better soil and put it in a clear pot so I can watch the roots. I'm just not sure the best way to do this so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
These are pretty hearty plants. It may have some roots that are stuck to the sides and bottom of the planter so before you take it out slide a butter knife or something similar around the inside of the pot. Chunky soil made of coconut husk and coir is always a good choice for medium. Add about an inch or so of medium to a new pot, put the root ball in the pot (hold It in place with your fingers if it’s more roots and less soil) and fill the rest of the pot. Give it some water and maybe fertilizer also if you haven’t fed it lately and give it some time to recover. You could also give it a nice rinse before you put it in the new pot just to get any dust off the leaves. Hopefully a repot and some fertilizer will help it flower!

いいね 1件 You can also use orchid bark or regular potting soil with extra drainage (add something chunky like big perlite hunks or orchid bark) Just so you have some options if you have trouble finding coco husks/coir.
いいね 1件 I do have orchid bark cause I always mix it into my potting soil with perlite and some Succulent soil for better drainage. Do you think that will work for this hoya too?

I have found the biggest factor with whether my hoya flowers is finding the right spot for it. They can be finicky that way - but otherwise pretty hardy. Mine loves the west facing window. after not Blooming for a few years, a repot and the right window it goes crazy now
