I recommend looking beneath the soil to see if your baby has a node, or if it’ll be a “zombie” single leaf plant that won’t grow any further. If it has a node, it could grow more, In this case I recommend bringing the node to the surface of the soil instead of having it buried. If it’s just a leaf with roots, leave it as is and enjoy your cute little heart! <3

Thank you so much!! I have been wondering about that, so I ended up checking it again after seeing your comment - and it does!! I pulled it out a bit from the dirt so here’s hoping she grows some more leaves one day!

My husband got me one and it luckily had one too! It’s grown a new leaf (the shape of it is kinda funky, but hey! I’ll take it!) and has recently sprouted another one 🥰 she was a VERY slow grower

i have a zombie leaf success story as while, though when i purchased it, it already had a very small second leaf that i thought i saw splash on. fast forward about 6 months, and now i have a three-leaf plant, and the two new leaves both are splashy! don’t give up!

The heart in a cup sold everywhere usually produces no new growth unless there is a stem and leaf node attached. See picture. Nurseries usually sell a leaf in soil that only sustains itself. You can water. Also, fertilize once a month with diluted fertilizer. I’m not sure how long they last.

I had one for 3 years. People told me it wouldn’t grow more than a leaf. And last year it sprouted a new vine and it’s completely taken off. But I also have a green one and it hasn’t done a thing. Both bought at the same time. Definitely look to see if there’s a node.
