Looking for some Hoya help please. Im following all the suggestions for watering and misting but the leaves are turning yellow. AI diagnosed overwatering or lack of drainage but I really don’t think its either, soil isn’t damp between watering and does drain out the bottom. Any suggestions?
Its picture is giving mixed signals based on the dry edges on one leaf indicating under watering and the yellowing leaf that could indicate both overwatering insufficient water. The yellowing can also indicate low light. How big is the pot? What does the soil look like? Is it standard potting mix or something else like a chunky mix? Standard peat mix hold too much water and can lead to root rot with hoyas. Hoyas are plants that need a lot more oxygen around their roots being epiphytes. They are less reliant on potting soil. So, they can grow large in a 4 inch pot. They do better in smaller pots.
3개 좋아요 Its in a 4” pot I believe its just regular potting soil loosely placed in the pot not packed too hard. (I purchased it like this). The window is east facing.
East lighting is great. It’s probably not a lighting issue. The pot looks bigger than a 4 inch. The plants are in too deep in the pot. The soil should be within a 1/4 inch from the rim. Plus, that’s too much soil for a plant that size. My photo show hoyas in 4 inch pots as they arrived from the nursery in a variety of chunky mixes. Replace the soil to a chunky mix as shown in the photo with a chunky mixture. The photo show all the pots with lots of perlite plus coco chunks, orchid bark chips or shredded coconut husks. They allow a lot of airflow and oxygen around the roots. Standard potting mix can get too muddy. The green beads are fertilizer beads that last from 6 to 8 months. Check for root rot (mushy smelly roots) when changing the soil. Fertilize once a month in colder months with 50% diluted fertilizer. Fertilize twice a month in warmer months. 🍀🪴
