hello everyone! this is my first time posting on planta but I would love some advice :) I have this hoya carnosa (I think?!) that has leaves turning yellow and red. I think this is due to too much direct sunlight so my question is will they turn back to green once the light is adjusted? also if anyone has any insight as to what variety this might be that would be really helpful, I can’t find any pictures that match!

i doubt that’s too much sun, if it was sunstressed the lower leaves would be shaded and remain greenish while the upper leaves would turn reddish. it could be a watering issue or the perhaps the plant is rootbound. also i’m pretty sure this is hoya bilobata, h. carnosa has longer leaves and lacks the darker margin of this species. i’m sorry i’m not able to be of much help but maybe this will point you in the right direction.

thank you!! this led me down the wildest trail… after some research I think it’s a Hoya nummularioides. it has flowered once and had white flowers with a pink center which is why I started to think it might not be bilobata.

Looks like my Hoya Nummularoides based on the thicker woody stems. My Hoya Bilobata has thin stems. It really does look like sun stress on this variety of hoya. I have some leaves like that. I’m not sure how they are hidden below the green leaves on your plant.

i’m starting to feel like it’s sun stress as well! the entire front side of the plant from top to bottom gets sunlight for about 5 hours a day right now in the summer. I had never heard of sun stress until today but it sounds like it’s okay for the plant?

Looks like H. Nummularoides. The bloom has a very strong floral scent. Some say the strongest! It looks very healthy. The sunstress is okay. If it gets to be too much, just give it a little shade. Mine is outside in Florida year round and Sunstresses like this. 😊

It will bloom again. Usually it blooms in November here. That may slide depending on how far north you are.
