Do I need to trim this all white segment? I've heard it's a drain on the plant.

The white and pink highlights are the distinctive markings of this variety of hoya, Hoya Carnosa Krimson Queen. No need to cut off the best parts. The plant has plenty of green leaves for photosynthesis.

Fun fact: The name Hoya carnosa Krimson queen was given to a Hoya similar to this one because the tendency to grow white/pink leaves was said to be removed. This, among other characteristics, were present at the time leading to a special patent for that particular cultivar of outer variegated Hoya carnosa. That special Hoya circulated so much under the krimson queen name that it became common place among casual collectors. Look up Cobia patents and trademarks 😊
