Does anyone keep their hoya outside during the summer? I’ve heard that it can be good for them and encourage flowering but I’m scared about pests. Anyone have any experience they’re willing to share??

You will get pests so just have your IPM together. Most people do a full treatment and systemic or beneficials before bringing them in

I move all of my plants outside when the weather gets warm enough. I treat with systemic granules though they’re controversial here, it works for me in conjunction with some neem oil spray. I’m pest free minus the sudden influx of spotted lantern flies that are moving into my area. Can’t do much about those though 🥴 otherwise, my plants are thriving and my Hoyas are getting great colors!

Most of mine are outside. You will get pests both inside and outside. The ones inside are worst because there are no natural predators inside. My outdoor plants have natural predators like common spiders, wasps, lizards, geckos, and tree frogs to keep most insects away. I just have to shake or drop the large hanging baskets to kick out the tree frogs before bringing the plants inside for winter.

Half of my Hoya collection is outside late spring through fall. I treat for pests about every 12 days and they’re thriving! I’ll do sulfur treatments before they come in for the winter.
