My Hoya Patricia finally opened its first blooms overnight!😍. Smells sweet and complex like the Byredo fragrance, Inflorescence, which I love!💗 it’s a strong jasmine and freesia scents. It has two more peduncles. It’s tinted and blemished from sun stress. It’s a cross between Hoya Darwinii and Hoya Elliptica and is very easy to grow. Highly recommended!

Are the blooms the same texture as the plant or is it different?

The blooms look carved from wax and sprayed with clear varnish. 😄The blooms feel thick. The leaves are closer to thin ‘normal’ leaves on non-hoya plants. The the cuticle/coating on the leaves are very thin closer to the leaves on a parent plant, Hoya Elliptica. So, they are flexible unlike the thick leaves found on a Hoya Krimson Queen or a standard Hoya Carnosa.

You will enjoy them. Mine took awhile to open. I thought it might be too hot. It turned out you are not supposed to let the potting soil stay dry too long. So, I started watering the ones with flower buds as soon as the chunky mix dries out! That did it. Three more hoyas with tiny peduncles started growing. They are take in full bloom, now. also gets three hours each morning of direct sun. It makes a huge difference!

I found online that this hoya’s blooms smells like fresh baked bread!🥖 🥯 I can’t smell anything close to a bakery scent, except my hoya Noona which has bloomed nonstop for weeks and smells like birthday cake/cake batter!
