This is my first hoya. Does anyone have any tips for me?
This is my first hoya. Does anyone have any tips for me?
My go to with hoya is nice chunky soil and diffused light. Mine do really well in the west window, mostly diffused with a few hours of direct on clear days. I have a few in my south facing too, but I had to work them up to that much light, especially in the summer.
1 j'aimeRight now it's in a window that gets diffused morning light with some direct around noon and indirect for the rest of the day. Is this a good spot for it?
1 j'aimeAlso what potting soils do you get? I've never really paid attention to the kind of potting soil that I buy so I would love to get some recommendations for good soil.
0 J'aimeThey are also semi-succulents so they like getting dry and have quick draining soil. Also drainage holes at the bottom of the pot.
1 j'aimeThat light should be good. The potting mix i use is one i make.... potting soil, perlite, orchid bark, pumice, charcoal. I'll add akadama if it needs to be chunkier, for a cactus or something. Avoid any of the pre-made succulent mixes that are filled with peat, it will stay to moist and rot them
1 j'aimeOk thank you!! I'm gonna try that!!!
