Well this is wild! I thought compactas were slower growers— I’ve only had this guy for 17 days. 👀

🙈i’m not sure I’m doing anything special… Here are his parameters: He lives next to my hydroponics system, so getting a light spill of about 420 foot candles for 16 hours a day. 50 to 70% humidity. He is in LECA — which was an immediate transfer after I got him and photographed him. I also rotate him every couple days so that he grows evenly.

Must be the leca and the humidity. I stopped putting my Hoya in soil because thats just not how they grow in their natural environment. I don’t have this plant but I couldn’t keep a Serpens alive until I took it out of soil and gave it more humid conditions. I’ve also heard so many people i follow on YouTube have amazing growth with Hoya in leca and/or pon. So I’ve heard this but never in relation to a compacta. Nice! 🤩

Oh wow leca for hoyas… I’ve got to try that too! I bet it’s also loving the spillover light ☀️🪴

The idea of putting a Hoya in LECA was so unintuitive to me. I hesitated for a long time. But I’ve noticed that the ones that I have transitioned are doing better than the ones I haven’t, so I’ll be moving all of my collection over eventually. 🤗

Hydroponics for THE WIN! I’ve moved just about 95% of my collection to Leca or pon or a mix of both, everything grows like CRAZY! And also, self watering pots! Absolute gamer changer and of course good light and humidity… even 40% humidity have my Hoyas THRIVING!!
1 j'aimeI am DEFINITELY rethinking mine’s home now! Wooow!!! Yours is so happy!

Maybe the LECA. I’m rethinking mine now too! Mine is under a grow light and I have a humidifier right next to him. Whatever you’re doing, keep it up!

i have my variegated carnosa compacta in leca & my green one in soil. i swear the variegated one is growing so much faster… maybe it’s time that i transfer the green one over too

LECA is the key!
