Any of you fine Hoya heads wanna take a guess as to what this species is? It was sold to me as Hoya Rigida, but it absolutely does NOT sun stress (like Rigida) and doesn’t even really tolerate bright indirect light. She’s fine in a north facing window. I thought maybe it’s a parasitica Laos? Totally guessing. I realize I’ll probably be able to identify her once she blooms, but figured I’d ask here first.

I’m just a novice hoya admirer coming to say wow 🤩 I love the almost spade-shape of the leaves. And I’m always a fan of splash 👌

Hmmm I would say Rigda is correct based on leaf shape. Have you had new growth? Mine only shows different color (darker) leaves with new growth but once leaves have matured they are just green. What happens when you put it in bright light vs the north window?

I’ll add a shot of its new growth.. It just burns in direct sun and gets limp in bright indirect light.

Does yours sun stress? I’ve seen a lot of pictures of beautifully sun stressed rigida’s.. This girl won’t tolerate it.

Mine have leaves that start out purple and fade to green. Mine is under a grow light and near an East window. It has been finicky though and wilts easily if I forget to check on it. I guess time will tell with yours once it flowers.

Maybe I’ll stick her under a grow light to see what happens. For all intents and purposes, you’re right, it looks like a Rigida. Yes, we’ll see.. I’ll keep ya posted!

Was reading about Rigida and found that is more of a cool grower. Which means it doesn’t thrive as well in temperatures above 25C or 77F. Not sure where you are located but it might seem to be happier in your North window as it’s cooler there. So a cooler spot with still lots of light from a grow light might help it.
