Evil Plant Dad

I’ve had this Hoya for nearly two months, it’s been under a grow light the whole time, and I have 0 growth. I ordered this as a cutting and the one branch it has shriveled at the tip and I’m wondering if I need to trim in order to stimulate growth. New to Hoyas so I appreciate any help.

It could be a problem with watering or humidity, but I would also check for mites. The only way to see them is with a microscope (the USB ones are inexpensive on Amazon). If you see tiny, bright orange spots then you have flat mites.

Some Hoyas won’t grow without a trellis- I don’t have this variety but they seem to want something to wrap around

What kind of Hoya is that? I’ve had troubles with finlaysonii and dekaye/viola type Hoyas and I found they prefer more humidity and sometimes they like a little less light than my all green or variegated varieties. There’s also that little saying about Hoya…first year they sleep, second year they creep and third year they leap. I think it’s kinda true for some varieties.

What soil is it in and do you mist it regularly?

I would guess the roots may be unhealthy just by looking at the one yellowing pale leaf. If it were me I would cut the root ball and reroot entirely in perlite and then pot up in a much smaller pot than you have it in. I am guessing the roots are staying wet for too long. This has happened to me and rerooting seems to always stimulate growth.
