This is my Hoya Lisa (my first and only Hoya). I got it about 3 months ago and first thing I noticed is the newer leaves lost their pink colour soon after I brought it home. I asked the woman I bought it from for tips, and she said it needed bright light. I put it under a grow light for a few hours a day but I think that made it worse because it started losing leaves. I also found the soil was a bit soggy so I repotted it in a slightly smaller pot with more a more airy soil mix and put it in a south facing window. It seems to be doing better now. I even found some new little leaves starting to sprout! But I also found another dead leaf today 😅. Do I just need to give it time, or is there anything else I might be doing wrong that’s keeping this baby from thriving?

Planta gives several suggestions for soil mix for hoyas. Most of the hoyas I bought come in a chunky coco coir blend. The ones in a mix similar to standard potting soil came out of the delivery box too wet with yellowing and spotty leaves that fell off with days. It’s better to underwater with a Hoya Lisa.

Hoyas like to dry out before watering, I have about 30 right now and most lost a few leaves when I brought them. They just need to adjust. They also like to be tight in their pots so don’t go too big when you repot

The pink leaves are babies.. As they mature and harden off, they become green and white.

I’m trying to sunstress mine if possible 🤞🏾 I can’t wait for her to fill in like yours🥰it looks good to me. I’ve had this issue with one my other Hoyas that also has waxy leaves. When the app tells you to water, feel the leaves to see if they are soft and bendable first. That means it’s time. If not, hold off watering a day or 2 at a time and keep checking. Test the leaves a day or 2 after watering to feel the difference. I discovered this tip on YouTube a year ago and has worked like a charm. No more dying leaves. She has recovered and grown so much.
