Newbie Hoya Substrate advice I’m really uncomfortable with the rocky dry medium this new acquisition is rooted in. All my plants are in soil. So, I’m unfamiliar / have no experience with this substrate, how / when to water, etc. I’d much prefer to repot in my usual DIY Hoya soil mix, but am worried about shocking it / kill it off. If it’s ok to repot, how soon should I do it? TIA. 🙏🌱

It looks healthy. No need to immediately repot it. Let it get settled in the new environment a couple of weeks. Then, repot in your hoya mix. 🍀🪴

The substrate is called pon if you want to look up how to care for the plant until you repot. Pon is one of my preferred substrates- fewer die in pon compared to soil type mixes in my hands.

It looks like a chunky pon mix. You can keep it watered by adding water mixed with nutrients to the bottom of the container (about a third way up). If it’s got holes in it stick the pot it in an outer pot without holes and fill that with the water. The substrate will wick the water to the roots. In my experience Hoyas loves this kind of medium.
