How often should I water my seeds and how often once they sprout? (Primarily herbs and flowers)

I only water my seeds the first day when I plant them, after the soil dries for 1st time I mist every day until the first set of leaves is out, some of them will be needed to mist up to 2 times a day. But you can just water them when they need it. For me it doesn’t work like that and they’ve rotted that’s why I only mist them
