Yay I got my first succulent I’m so excited to see how it does, any tips on what to look for when it needs water?

If the leaves start to feel soft or thin, or even wrinkled, these are signs that it is having to use its water reserves. I would try to avoid waiting this long if you can. One of the ways I use is to heft (lift) the pot and notice how heavy it feels when it's fully watered and when it dries out. When it's feels very light, water it. You can also gently tip it out of the pot. If it slides out fairly easily and feels / looks dry, it's probably dry enough to water.
