Does anyone have any recommendations for a pretty cheap succulent/chunky potting mix? Any tips would be much appreciated.

I add chicken grit to regular potting mix! You could also use extra perlite or coarse sand. This improves drainage and means you don’t have to buy a separate soil. For some plants I also add pine bark.

Thanks I will try that!

I make my own soil using by adding perlite, small granite bits, and turface to plain soil. I live in a humid sometimes rainy place, so I stay away from any soil labeled moisture control.
