I’m slowly attempting to fill in the evolutionary breadth of the S. Africa “splitting” plants. My mind continues to remain blown as I scan through the subtleties of all these leaves.

And then I set them next to Mexican Echeveria and, armed with only street science, spout off about a leaf traveling across oceans to create a culture.

I’ll talk more about the Karoo Rose at a later date - it is the reason for this accidental plant binge.

What is you care too for the baby toe? I bought a 2” pot full and within the first week I ended up with only two leaves. I don’t know what to do 😔

Hi there. Baby Toes was a pain to figure out due to the misting needs. I actually made an Instagram friend who does biodiversity tours in Cape Town to figure out why they’re such a pain. He listened to my theories lol and mentioned that they get a tiny sea breeze from a coast. This pic is from him - it gave me some perspective.

After really trying to get my toes going under light and morning sun, I finally put it in a full sun South window sill and mist it when it gets a little wrinkly.

I started taking them seriously when mine bloomed ha. The flower smells sweet like butterscotch. Weird.

Wow beautiful 🤩
How often do you water them??

#### Dave\_opuntiaface replied on 2024-04-09

I follow the watering schedule on Planta, which is more or less every ten days.

I don’t know if this is worth saving or not. It’s always looking sad 😔

I see a healthy base in there and give it a “we have no idea what these are capable of” seal. My other pot had looked bad, so I misted and gave it more light. If you can get it in a sunny window, Jah bless :)
