# This guy has started sprouting at a rapid rate in the last two…

This guy has started sprouting at a rapid rate in the last two months. It’s looking crowded in its little pot. I’m assuming transplanting is the next step. Is this step needed yet? Thank you!

If I’m not mistaken, cacti like to get good and snug in their rootball before being transplanted. So wait until you’ve got some roots growing out of the bottom. And if it’s not an emergency, the general rule is to wait until spring to repot.

Totally agree, they don’t grow very extensive root systems so they do better in smaller pots. you can pull it out of the pot gently to look at the root growth and see where it’s at!

i would agree that they like to be a little cozy, plus their root balls aren’t very large! if it’s crowding too much on the top, you can always go for a wider (but not deeper) pot

When they get very snug I tend to repot. Then plant some of the pups around the bottom.

That looks like a bunny, rabbit cactus they grow like weeds

Make sure to wear really good gloves and even pants and a jacket to repot that one!! lol the little hairs get everywhere and don’t feel good at all!!
