I have this aloe plant and I can’t ever seem to grow it past 3 shoots…as soon as another starts growing, one stem dies. It’s alive, but not thriving. What do I do?

The pot looks way too big for it. I would reduce the pot size by quite a bit and you will probably see some progress.

Yes decrease the pot size to just big enough to hold the roots plus a bit more. Terracotta is good because u want to let it dry out so it’s also important to have drainage hole(s.) Terracotta is good too because it’s less likely to fall over. Make sure you have a well draining soil. Look for cactus or succulent mix. Find a spot with bright indirect light. Too much direct sun will give weak, yellow leaves. (Ask me how I know🫣)

Add a ton of grit to this soil. It looks very organic. Add some kelp meal and worm castings. Downsize pot as mentioned and raise top of soil closer to the rim. Is it getting enough light?

Gotta give it a smaller pot and soil that will breathe, something chunkier and rockier. Soil like it currently has would hold moisture so long you would only need to water once every month or two, depending on conditions.
