# Hi guys I just got my first two house plants this cactus and a snake…

Hi guys I just got my first two house plants this cactus and a snake plant from ikea im currently bottom watering them both as the soil was completely dry to the touch would appreciate any advice on keeping them alive such as is this pot ok to keep them in

repot with 60-70 % pumice

Is this a type of soil? And would i need to get a diffrent pot?

Pumice is a porous volcanic rock. Mix with a cactus/succulent mix soil. I bigger terracotta pot would be ideal

Congratulations on your 1st 2 plant babies! Soon you'll have 100 lol both those two plants need a good amount of light. The cactus especially needs high light. Like a west or south facing window with lots of sun. The snake plant can do east , west, south, and even a north facing window. They both do well if you don't over water them. Water about once a month if you have a winter season.

I have my cactus directly at a south facing window then my snake plane in line with the window but just further back in the room so it gets decent light is this fine?

Also how would ik when my plants have been watered enough appreciate the advice

Yes that sounds fine. And the water question, if you use this app and answer all the things on it , it will tell you when you need t o water them. It will keep track of the watering. But always make sure with both plants that the soil is completely dry before watering them again. Get familiar with this app and everything will be fine.
