# My aeonium lived in a small pot for a few years and got a bit leggy…

_Posted by Emily on 2026-03-05_

My aeonium lived in a small pot for a few years and got a bit leggy and some weird angles going on, but wasn't \*too\* bad. I upgraded its digs a few months ago to see if that would make it happier and today I noticed it's got a bunch of aerial roots.
It lives outside and gets plenty of sun and regular water - this summer has been weirdly damp in Australia so its received regular dousings of rain.
It's definitely not too wet though so I'm unsure where to go from here.
Any suggestions?

Sorry I should have said what can I change to get it healthier and grow better? I'm not sure why it has so many aerial roots when it's pretty much had all of its needs met

I know this is an older post, but they grow roots like that for support. If the roots make it to the soil, they will grow stronger, almost like a branch
