For anyone that has the false holiday cacti, when should my little guy flower? I have had it since November and I had buds but they never bloomed. It is doing amazing and has sooooo many new leaves growing. I just wish I could have seen the flowers 🥺

I’ve had mine for years without knowing anything about it until recently. My boyfriend shut the blinds on my plants for a few days. When I noticed I opened the blinds again. After a few weeks it started to bloom for the first time since I got it.

Thank you, I’ll try not letting it too much sun for a little bit out of the day and see if it will do it. I appreciate it

Google “Blooms requires two things: cooler temperatures and long nights. These cacti are short-day plants, which means that blooms are triggered by long dark cool nights. They need between 14-16 hours of uninterrupted darkness and 8 hours of daylight for between 3 - 6 weeks to set flower buds.”

Thank you, I appreciate it. I’m going to do just that then 😊

Kezzy is right. Put the plant in complete darkness at night, no light leaks or turning on room lights or the process starts over. Use a cardboard box covered with a dark cloth to block light leaks to for 14+ hours. A cool room is best. Give it sun during the day and complete darkness at night. Remove when the buds appear. It should continue to flower on its own. Don’t fertilize while it’s flowering.

Thank you 😊

Mine did the same thing —buds fell off in the fall and no blooms. And now I’m getting a bunch of new growth. I just hope it blooms eventually! Good luck! 🪴
