# Haven’t had this plant long. Had these yellow areas appear after I…

_Posted by Grandma2aDancer on 2025-05-30_

Haven’t had this plant long. Had these yellow areas appear after I watered her a couple days ago. She was dry when I watered her. I don’t know if it’s connected but before this she grew an orange “appendage?” thing that then withered away in a few days.
Any thoughts? I love her and don’t want to lose her 💚

I love your cactus. The only thing i can think of about that orange thing is it was trying to become a flower but didn't. And the parts that are yellow are usually overwatering. You may not be watering all the time but when you do water it , you could be giving it to much water. Do you know what i mean by that?

Or someone might have been overwatering it before you got it?

I’ve only watered it the one time and I thought I’d read to water until it drain out the bottom and then let it dry out completely before watering again. Please tell me if that’s not right and how to do it correctly

That is correct

You may just have some losses from its prior care until you get it in balance again.

Yes. I haven’t had it all that long, so I guess time will tell.
