# Does anyone know what could be going on with her? She's under a grow…

Does anyone know what could be going on with her? She's under a grow light and she gets water and fertilized when I'm told. But she looks.....horrible compared to when I brought her home. She FEELS like she gets over watered but LOOKS like she doesn't get watered enough.

“Horrible” is too general. Do you mean the darker color? That happens with exposure to bright light. Happens with many haworthias. And it’s not a bad thing.

Not the color at all. She just looks incredibly shriveled compared to when I first got her

If it is mushy it is too much water if it is dry and crispy it needs more water and maybe a little less light depending on how much it gets. 400 foot candles are best for suculants

You mentioned that you water and fertilize when told…by the app? Let the watering notifications be reminders to check the plant and check the moisture levels, don’t follow the app schedule. How often have you been watering?

She's always dry when I water her 🤷🏻

Shriveled up is caused by too little water. The app is a guide and not always correct. Check soil a couple days before next watering. If it is totally bone dry, then water it. If the soil has not been totally dry when you water, then it could have root rot. The roots have died so it can not take up water, which also makes it look dehydrated.

I just looked at her roots and they look amazing. So I gave her a different mix and I guess we will see what happens 🤷🏻

I just checked the plants stats, the watering schedule may not be correct because you didn’t list it as being under a grow light.

I would repot it to investigate further to see if its a root issue and it's not uptaking water then repot in a way grittier mix than you have it in currently. I like Jack's Gritty Mix off Amazon, but you could amend the current soil with pumice, lava rock, sand, etc. Leaving only 10-20% organic matter for optimal drainage since your growing inside under grow lights.

I literally just took a pic of mine to post here to be like is this ok? Mine is a lot darker than when i bought her. She’s under a grow light. Im thinking not enough water?

I think that looks amazing hahaha I wish mine looked like that again. I'm going to have to inspect her soon
