# Hello guys! Quick question: do you follow the water/fertilizer/repot…

Hello guys! Quick question: do you follow the water/fertilizer/repot schedule that Planta gives you, or do you follow your own? I prefer to err on the side of underwatering rather than overwatering my plants, so I feel like I’m constantly snoozing Planta alerts. Just curious if people have thoughts one way or the other. TIA!

I use it strictly as a reminder. Snooze/complete early tasks according to what my plants actually need. I usually don’t check plants until the app has given me a task for that plant, with the exception of few rogues who seem to be a bit all over the place.

I second this! It’s definitely a good reminder to check on how they are doing, but like plant father said as well Planta cannot know your individual environment so it should really only be used as a reminder to check on them!

if you click “more information” on any of the tasks planta gives you, there are instructions to check the soil before watering and fertilizing, and to make sure the plant needs repotting before doing so. many people miss these instructions and i think this is why many over water their plants using planta—the app unfortunately cannot know your environment accurately based solely on the information inputted. we would need lots more parameters for a more accurate generated watering schedule, like connecting to a household thermo-hygrometer.  
i like to use custom watering schedules for most of my plants, and adjust as needed, especially for those potted in coco chips and slotted plastic pots, neither of which are an option in planta currently. if you find yourself snoozing tasks repeatedly, it might be helpful for you to adjust the watering schedules on those plants.  
also, for future reference, i think the appropriate group for this post would be feedback on planta, or perhaps anything about plants.
