My Pin Needle Cactus has a wrinkled bottom! Can anyone explain why the bottom is thin and wrinkled?

It looks like it’s grafted

Agree it appears to be grafted. That shrivelled part doesn't look like an Eve's needle at all

The bottom looks like an Eastern prickly pear to me which shrivel up when they go dormant in the winter

That is what I thought it was until the pin started growing out of it. Unlike a prickly pair it there are no spikes on it. They are soft protuberances.

I did more research on the plant. It is a Brazilian Prickly Pear!! The bottom part is supposed to look like that and
New growth shoots up like a pin!
I have never heard of a Brazilian prickly pear.
