# I just noticed these small dots near the base of my Melocactus…

I just noticed these small dots near the base of my Melocactus mantanzanus and was wondering what to make of them? Are these associated with pest or fungal infection. Hopefully it is benign. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Take a q-tip and see if you can brush it off. If you can then I would say it is scale bugs. It may leave some little white scar on your cactus once you remove them.
