# Hi! My sister had this succulent in her apartment. It sat right in…

_Posted by Shay on 2024-05-16_

Hi!
My sister had this succulent in her apartment. It sat right in the window (though she kept the blinds closed, sun still peaked through them) and she believes she’s been watering it about once a month.
It has lost many leaves, but has much more new growth. When she first got the plant, the entire plant was the same color (the color of the biggest leaves). The plant is really delicate and frail.
Any suggestions?

Are you taking it for a ride? 😂 looks like it wants to be repotted and put in some sunlight. I would definitely try that and gently clean the dead leaves off and place in some succulent soil mix. I use a grow light over mine and they are still alive. 🤞🏻 watch watering it to much, they like it dry . Good luck 👍🏻

Haha!! We moved my sister out of her apartment today, so he’s taking a ride home!
Thanks for the advice!

Maybe try propagating some leaves just in case the mother plant doesn’t make it

he needs a makeover! take off all the big leaves on the bottom row and propagate. remove all the dead \& dying leaves. move him to a pot just a little bigger than the roots with WELL DRAINING SOIL (so so important for succulents) and drainage holes! put him in some bright light and water when the soil is totally dry + a couple of days. it may take some time but he’ll be back on his feet and hardier than ever!

Hi!! Sorry for the late response, but I finally have an update!! We did almost exactly this, but when we took it out of the old pot we realized there were very few roots!!! We moved it into a smaller pot with cactus mix.
