# So here’s an interesting find. I got this variety of succulent plants…

So here’s an interesting find. I got this variety of succulent plants from a Trader Joe’s store about 3 weeks ago. I’ve used this app to identify each plant, which include: echeveria, ghost plant, jade plant, jade plant ‘horn tree’, ogre ears, greene’s liveforever, and shooting star golden sedum. This totals to 7 different plants, which I got for $6. Now that I think about it, a pretty good deal. They all came planted together in one 6” terracotta pot. My question is, can I leave these plants together, or should I remove them and repot each one individually in their own separate pots? I want them to thrive and I’m not sure if leaving them together would be the best option for them, even though they look really great together. Your input is appreciated! c:

You need a very small planter if you really plant.

re pot it in a small pot.

Here’s my plant. It’s only three different plants now. And it’s doing good

I’m thinking about re planting the elephant plant ( you didn’t get that one) but I’m afraid it might die. If I mess with it. So far it’s ok. Succulents like being a bit root bound

Thanks for your advice! Yeah I’m thinking it might be best to repot them all into tiny pots. Idk if I would be good for all of them to get their roots all tangled up with each other. Your plant looks pretty good!

Your welcome. I thought the same thing. I probably would never buy another multi plant again. lol. I’m watching to see if the elephant plant gets too big, I’ll replant that one. I just bottom watered it today. This isn’t regular soul or even succulent soil. It stays very dry.

Yeah I noticed that about the soil too! I feel like it could easily be a trap for overwatering too since most people know to water when the soil is dry. But if it’s always dry, then the plant is going to constantly have water and could possibly lead to issues

I only bottom water this plant. I never soak it and I only water it when the app tells me too. If it’s damp I won’t water it
I think it’s appropriate potting mix for succulents cause they hate damp soil. So far this plant is doing GREAT with this potting soil and infrequent waterings. The dry soil is a plus

I would separate them all personally

### max kommenterte den 2024-05-01

i would separate either most or all. like Ma G said, you can leave a few with similar care needs in a pot together, but it’s important that everyone is getting enough light. plus a bigger pot means more soil which means it takes longer to dry out in between and you never ever want to over water a succulent!

#### Ma G svarte den 2024-05-01

Exactly.

#### max svarte den 2024-05-01

as you can kinda see here, this plant is stretching to find light, which means it isn’t getting enough. succulents will stretch a little with normal growth but this looks more like trying to fix a need

Also maybe it’s crowded out I’d remove that part

#### Ma G svarte den 2024-05-01

I’d never put this in a bigger planter. That’s the surest way to kill a succulent cause the soil will stay wet too long

Btw. I’ve never had problems with Trader Joe’s plants. They do a great job ( whoever they get their plants from) and affordable.

This is great advice. Thanks to you both for all of your help! Will definitely be repotting these babies soon then :)
