I’m such a noob with cactus care. I had better luck when I was totally ignorant lol  
I was just checking out the mealy damage I assumed I would have but all I can see is the roots are gone except for the tap and it feels fine. Not mushy anywhere but definitely dormant or dead. What do I do now? 🧐 How do I get it to grow roots and save it?  
Any advice is greatly appreciated 🙏  
\*Update: I’ve learned that the smell of pine needles is a sign of life! And the roots missing is from dormancy. I’m so relieved 😅 but I’m putting it in a clear pot so I can watch for roots

I agree 😁 and I cleaned it the best I could. It still smells good and piney so it’s still alive! I love this Mammillaria so much I panicked when I saw the roots gone.  
I have it in a clear plastic pot with skewers, I just stuck it in the pink pot for added stability. Thanks for your help! 🙏
