# I have several Aeonium Kiwi and they are all currently green instead…

_Publicado por Plant Addict el 2024-01-08_

I have several Aeonium Kiwi and they are all currently green instead of yellow I have them under grow lights so I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong. They were such a pretty yellow when I first got them. I live in IL but the succulents are under grow lights

The underside of the leaves also seem to have variable brown marks on them. I'm wondering if that's due to bugs. Some of the leaves looked so bad I removed most of the bad leaves and am going to repot.

Thanks!

Yes I am only watering when my moisture gauge says dry.

Aeonium ‘Kiwi’ has very unique coloration conditions! It develops green leaves with pink margins in brighter light (full sun), and the yellow and green striping in lower light (part sun). I keep mine in a south-facing window, and it stays green with pink margins during the summer, then the yellow coloration emerges during the winter. So, if you want those yellow leaves, I would recommend decreasing their light exposure — just be careful not to decrease it too much, since they still need plenty of light (and those other succulents do as well!). It’s a tough balance for sure!

Regarding the brown marks under the leaves — those are scars from leaf damage. Aeonium is super sensitive and develops them easily, so it’s not necesssrily cause for concern, especially if it’s only on the old leaves (indicating that it happened in the past). I would check carefully for pests, using a flashlight and looking under all the leaves and crevices, to rule that out as the cause of damage — just know that all that poking and prodding will probably cause more leaf scarring, so don’t freak out when you see it! And keep an eye on new growth to make sure it’s staying mostly undamaged.
