Hellooo! I am hoping for some tips for repotting this buddy. I know string of pearls usually have pretty shallow roots and you shouldn’t have to repot them too often, but this baby is big and I don’t want any rot or overcrowding to happen. I’ve noticed the top of her head has gotten a bit crowded too, making it hard for me to check the soil for moisture. She still has some flowers so I think she’s still happy but I’m not sure 1) HOW to repot I’d I should (I mean how do I not cause damage??), and 2) when it’s best to repot these. Thoughts??? Should I change the pot? I need to get to propagating lol

Omg! She’s massive! I can’t give any reporting advice but how have you gotten her so happy and healthy? I’m really struggling with my little one!!! Thanks!

Thank you so much!! 🥰 my best advice would be to be careful of overwatering as they are sensitive to root rot, make sure they get plenty of light (most people say indirect light for 8ish hours a day, but I have found my baby likes direct light from my grow light about 1.5 feet above her crown for about half the day!) I’m sure it depends on the temperature too- my apartment is on the cooler side so I try to supplement with more light and she’s by my baseboard heaters, which also works out because they enjoy a more dry environment and don’t need much humidity. To keep her crown full, I will periodically trim the longer strings and put it on the top to grow roots too, but idk if that’s necessary lol I honestly haven’t repotted her since I got her so idk what soil is in there lol but it has a ton of drainage. But just make sure to pay attention to what her peas look like because they can change fairly quickly if they get parched or overwatered. I barely water her in the winter though! Best of luck!!! 🥰

You are bound to lose some pearls in the potting process, I would try my hardest to get the strings all on one side of the pot (lift and flip over the crown) then lay the pot on its side while on the ground and shimmy the plant out. Maybe poke at the soil with a skewer if it’s stuck!

If you’re not seeing any real issues, I would reconsider re-potting. Mine is super crowded too, but super happy and continues to put out a lot of new growth. I mean, you’ll have to tackle it eventually, but imo it looks like a great size/scale ratio. 👏🏼

Thank you!! I think I will let her be for a while 🥰

See if you can find a you tube video on how to repot. And if you remove the plastic hanger first that will help. It’s a beautiful plant!
