# Why are some pearls drying out \& dying, but not others? My variegated…

Why are some pearls drying out \& dying, but not others? My variegated string of pearls ultimately seems kinda happy, but there are gaps of pearls that completely dry out and die. I water when soil is very dry and it receives plenty of west facing window sun. Most of the plant is very healthy, but some parts just dry out and die! What can I be doing better?

Mine did this when I over fertilized it.

Perhaps you’re right, could be over fertilization. I’ll keep an eye on it!

Hmm.. sounds like you’re doing all the right things. That’s tough. Maybe move to filtered water?
