Hey! I’m very new to plants and I just bought some cactuses. I bought the one shown in the photo and it seems dead at the bottom (was there when I bought it) is it healthy? How should I care for it?

It’s not dead, just calloused. It’s not soft to the touch, right? I wouldn’t change anything at this point. Follow the Planta reminders 😊

As long as it’s still firm and not mushy or soft you should fine. IMO Looks like that part may have been covered by soil at some point. I’ve seen many cacti look like that

That’s just the way they grow in nature, kind of like a tree trunk
