# Needing advice! I’ve had a sting of pearls plant for almost a year…

_Posted by Megan on 2023-09-29_

Needing advice! I’ve had a sting of pearls plant for almost a year and I love it and yesterday i got a variegated sting of pearls, which i already love! I assumed the care for it would be the same but the app is telling me i should water the variegated one every 3 weeks as opposed to every 2 weeks i’ve been watering my other ones. Is this correct? Please help 😭

I’m a new plant parent, but it could make sense. The app is recognising this as a new plant. So smaller plant and root system would require less water? Also, transitioning into fall the plant will become more dormant, also requiring less water.
Again, I’m just a beginner but I am a computer engineer. The app may be taking the stats of the plant into account and adjusting the care schedule.

Variegated require less water.

Same pots, same size, variegated in the large and small always need less water than the other 2.

I believe those plants have received a little more love than just Mother Nature. Great job. Credit where credit is due!!

I have both variegated and normal and I treat them the same. They are literally sitting side by side and get watered, fertilized, etc. at the same time.
