Add mosquito bits to ur soil! U could find these in gardening/hardware stores. They r little pieces of corn laced with a chemical that specifically targets gnat \& mosquito larvae

Other things u can do: buy/make sticky traps, reduce watering (if possible), occasionally water plant with diluted 3% hydrogen peroxide (diluted is important here bc even at 3% I’ve had plants suffer bc of the H2O2 either burning them or leaching all the nutrients out of the pot.)

I’ve had great luck watering with a “tea” made from steeping a mosquito dunk (the solid, donut-shaped mosquito bits) in a pitcher of hot tap water for two hours (to overnight) and regularly using that for my watering. No gnats anymore. I dry out the dunk between uses. After a while, it crumbles into bits and I move on to the next dunk.

That’s an awesome tip! Thank you!

It could be your either watering too much or the soil is too fibrous.

Yeah, it might very well be. A good way to know if your watering/soil is a problem is to see how long it takes to dry. The soil should dry out within a day and stay dry until the plant asks for water again. If it isn’t drying out quickly…you are watering before the plant needs it, have too much dirt that your plant’s roots can’t reach, it’s in too dense of a soil, or the area you have it in doesn’t have enough airflow. My understanding is too wet of soil is what causes fungus gnats. Aloe doesn’t need wet soil so fixing that should help fix the gnat issue.

I’m sorry, I know they are so annoying!🤪

Ummm what I would do is let’s the soil dry out your soil might be too wet

Okay, I’m watering about every 16 days but I may let it go longer this time, to see if it changes. How many days do you suggest waiting to water?

#### #lovemyplant respondió el 2024-05-24

How much are you watering it ?

#### #lovemyplant respondió el 2024-05-24

Because you might not be the times you water it

I just saw your update picture. You are doing great! It looks much better!

#### Mallarie E respondió el 2024-05-24

Oh great, I haven’t really noticed much change, but I see it every day and I’m making sure it gets more sunlight! Thanks!

Thanks for asking the question, I’m having the same issue. I’ll need to let mine dry out as I was watering them weekly, but in reading more about aloe plants that’s too much for them.

At one time I was going about 22 days in between watering. But I felt like it was getting too dried out, so I’m not exactly how long I need to wait. 🤷🏻‍♀️
