# hey guys! brought home a “monkey tail” cactus yesterday, but i’m a…

hey guys! brought home a “monkey tail” cactus yesterday, but i’m a little unsure if it really is because:  
1\. it doesn’t seem to be hanging down like monkey tails usually do  
2\. the spines are sharp and rigid, not soft and fuzzy like monkey tails seem to be.

is this really a monkey tail or is it something similar?

Scanning it on Planta it’s saying it’s a Night-blooming cereus. To me it looks like a tree cactus or maybe a Pilosocereus chrysostele

haha, yeah i think Planta is off on this one… you might be right with the tree cactus though, just a bummer it’s not what i thought i was getting

Fr I got that with both photos and it looks nothing like it 😂 I’m sorry that is a bummer but she is a really pretty cactus! She chose you hehe

hmm… or maybe it’s Cleistocactus winteri?? i’m hoping so because i really wanted a trailing cactus

ive noticed it seems like planta definitely struggles with identifying Cacti 😅 my cactus also looks nothing like the one it identified it as

Plant parent says it's a peanut cactus but I'm not totally sure

that would be awesome if it was!! my current best guess is a golden torch cactus, what do you think??
