It’s hard to ID cactus like this — there are so many varieties \& differences can be subtle, but I think this is a type of Wooly Cactus ‘Espostoa guentheri’

as far as propagation goes, these should self-propagate and make “pups” when they’re happy \& thriving, and you can separate those out if you want more plants

Sometimes it’s hard to ID cactuses until they grow more. Ive had a few that I thought were one thing and a couple years later found out it was something different.
