# My venus fly trap isnt doing so well. It's lived nearly a year but…

My venus fly trap isnt doing so well. It's lived nearly a year but now it has black traps and looking very sorry for itself. I have also noticed these tiny silver looking jumping bugs on it. Not sure if that's related. And tips and advice is much welcomed

What's thrips and how do i get rid? I did submerge my entire plant today and they all floated to the top of the water. That did seem to help because Ive not seen any movement on the plant since but i will keep my eye on it over the coming days

Is that what you're supposed to do? Lol 🤣 i just guessed lol 🤣 VFT are so delicate that i didn't want to use a pesticide

They could have also been springtails. They’re not harmful, but they show up when there’s moist soil and decaying plant matter.

Anything you can put on it? Submerging it didn't work 🤦🏻‍♀️
