# Does my Venus Flytrap’s soil look too slimy to you? When I got it I…

Does my Venus Flytrap’s soil look too slimy to you? When I got it I knew it’s a generally swamp kind of plant so I thought this green ooze was natural and beneficial for the plant. As I’ve been reading more online about these little guys apparently it’s common for them to get algae and slime due to overwatering near the top. Should I scrape this off or leave it?

Algae shouldn’t harm it. If you stop top watering it will dry out and die (the algae) but don’t let the VFT itself dry out
