# I’m wondering if anyone knows how to encourage their pitcher plant to…

I’m wondering if anyone knows how to encourage their pitcher plant to produce pitchers!

I bought mine last summer and she had full grown pitchers that then died off during the fall. I trimmed off the original pitchers and some of her leaves, and shes consistently been growing new leaves as well as a baby plantlet, now a second plantlet is growing through right behind the first one as well.

Light is bright indirect, and I water using only distilled water regularly. Misted at least once a week if not 2-3 times a week. She’s still putting out new leaves regularly!

Throughout the first plantlet growing, there hasn’t been any development in pitchers themselves. This is my first carnivorous plant, and im not sure how to encourage pitcher growth! Any advice on how to fertilize when there arent pitchers would also be greatly appreciated :)

I’m having this same issue.. maybe it’s not humid enough for the both of us? They love humidity

I cut off the pitcher points on the leafs that are going to open or are dying off. Allowing them to focus on light and allowing other pitchers to focus on growing.

These started popping back up last week again.

more light. not enough light = only new leaves, no pitchers. the stem is visibly tilting towards that light source in the photo. move closer to the window

you can "fertilize" through the leaves. use an EXTREMELY DILUTED water soluble fertilizer, like ones for orchids. should be at 1/4 strength of what's recommended on the bottle. mist with that dilution. it's called "foliar feeding", kind of fascinating if you ever want to learn more
