Evening, my Dionaea muscipula (Venus fly trap) has white bits in the soil that seems to be mould. I’ve only recently bought it and when I bought it, I was charged very little as it was severely dehydrated in the garden centre. I was planning on repotting soon but hoping to revive it a bit more so it’s stronger for the transfer. The pot it came in has drainage holes with the roots poking out the holes into another pot. I’ve read before that this is for putting water in the outer pot for the roots to drink from rather than the soil so this is what I’ve done over the last week or two. Is this correct? Should I repot now and change soil? Is there any way to treat the mould?
Thank you!

Personally I would repot now before the new growing season starts. I use long fiber sphagnum moss at the bottom and top, then the middle is equal parts peat moss and perlite. Or if you prefer to use a premix for flytraps. Then use a deep water tray or dish to stand it in with water to keep the substrate wet. They do have a long root system so I use a tall plastic pot 6” x 9”
The moldy bits might be perlite
