I just received a vft, pitcher plant and a sundew. The vft and sundew arrived in tiny terrariums. They are in windows that are south facing. Now what do I do?! lol Do I leave them as they are?

Venus flytraps need dormancy in the cold

I have read that. I just got them the day after Christmas and the pics are how they came. That’s why I posted here because I don’t know what to do lol. They all look healthy and happy at this point. Do I force dormancy? If so how?! I’m lost lol. Thank you!

Don’t worry I just agonized over it too! It’s probably already in the dormancy state. You can tell by the way the leaves look. If they are low laying and not holding the traps up high then it’s dormant and you have a couple ways to care for it. They need the cold temperatures (50F to 64F) is ideal but they can take it down to freezing temps just fine. I have mine on my covered porch away from any chance of getting rained on. I live an hour north from where they grow wild so they will be fine until spring. But some people have to put them in the fridge for a couple months. The plants are up rooted and cleaned then put in a freezer bag with some sphagnum moss. I think California Carnivores has the best how to videos on YouTube or their website too. I must have watched a 100 videos lol I joined a couple of online groups also and read as much as I could find on the subject. I put them in a large pot (1 gallon) to give them more insulation and they sit on a wet wash cloth in a drip tray. I hope this helps.
