# Hi all! Does anyone have thoughts on why the lower leaf on my…

Hi all! Does anyone have thoughts on why the lower leaf on my monstera decided to flop over on top of itself? It is the farthest leaf from the light, and was bent kind of under and away from the light when she arrived here. The leaf’s been moving up closer to the light, but I didn’t expect the flop over 🤷‍♀️

I searched her, and don’t see any sign of pests. I watered her yesterday or the day before as she was quite dry.

I’d appreciate any thoughts or advice y’all have!

Is the soil hydrophobic, by any chance. Floppy leaves in conjunction with dry soil would make me think it’s not getting water.

Thank you, but no. The soil absorbed the water just fine. It wasn’t bone dry, just dry enough to water.

Well that’s all I’ve got. 😅 My deliciosa had a couple of floppy leaves (it was multiple plants in one pot and one of the plants just flopped) so I unpotted that plant and cut/water-propagated it. It took a minute but it grew roots and a new leaf so I took off the old leaves and repotted the new leaf. It’s strong and standing tall again. 🤷🏻‍♀️  
The roots were fine and everything but it wasn’t giving any new leaves.  
If that’s an older leaf it could just be the plant deciding it’s done its job and it’s time to let that one go.
